On this Thursday night (27th) you are invited to spend an evening in the company of the renowned
guitarist/composer, Pat Coldrick. Presented by North Cork Classical Music. Tickets €15, starts 8.30 sharp.
Coming up:
Annmarie O’Riordan in concert on Friday, July 5 at 8.15pm. Tickets €15. Annmarie’s singing has been likened to
the legendary Dolores Keane. You may agree or you may not, but either way, her very distinctive voice is attracting a huge fan base wherever she performs.
Booking both shows now – call 025-32227 or 087-6492514 or pick up your tickets at the usual outlets : The Avondhu office, MacCurtain St., Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter’s Bar, Kilworth (025-27109); Hyland’s Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-24528).
Pat Coldrick is ultimately a classical guitarist but not in the sense that you or I think classical. He has taken this field of music to another level altogether!! While Pat plays his own arrangements of great modern pieces like ‘Desperado’ and ‘Classical Gas’, the huge greats like ‘Passacaglia’ and ‘Asturias’, the love songs like ‘A Time for Us’ and ‘Autumn Leaves’, it is Pat’s own compositions that set him miles apart.
His new piece called ‘Antarctica’ is a major ground breaking piece of music and is making waves already in the music industry even though it has not yet been released! Another wonderful piece is the well known song ‘Lament’ which has been played all over the world and is deemed a classic in its own right.
As a seven year old Annmarie O’Riordan took part in many Feiseanna winning her first County Medal at Freemount. She recorded her first song as a 12 year old on CCÉ’s CD ‘Down Erin’s Lovely Lee’ in 2001 and her rendition on of ‘Pádraig Óg Mo Chro’ proved hugely popular.
At 14 years of age Annmarie had recorded her first CD ‘Harmony Handed Down’, her second coming two years later. There was an even greater response to this one which was titled ‘Melody in Harmony’. It included the atmospherically reflective ‘Cooraclare’ and ‘This Story I Tell you is True’.
Her latest and hugely sought after CD entitled ‘Ireland – Love of My Heart’ is receiving remarkable acclaim and can be heard on radio stations worldwide. Her superb backing group includes Tony O’Flaherty (playing a vast variety of instruments), Brendan O’Sullivan (on fiddle and viola) and Seán Hickey (on button accordion).
